The cold weather is upon us and your hives should be set up for winter now. Make sure you bees have enough stores and if they do not you will have to feed them.
There have been quite a few detections of varroa mite in the region so winter will be a good time to brush up on how to manage them. This will be very important as the mite spreads further throughout the region during next season. Winter is also a great time to get boxes and frames ready for next season so get out into the shed on those cold days when you do not want to be outside. A patio heater can your best friend when making boxes and frames during winter.
